President of Jatiya Ganotantrik League MA Jalil, President of Bangladesh Muktijoddha Ainjibi Parishad Advocate Khondkar Shamsul Alam Dudu, Chairman of NAP Bhasani MA Bhasani, General Secretary of People’s Democratic Party Siddiqur Rahman and President of Bangladesh Lokshakti Party Shahikul Alam Titu in a condolence message on Friday expressed deep shock at the death of Major (Retd) Ziauddin Ahmed, a sub-sector commander of Bangladesh’s Liberation War in 1971. In the message, they said the country has lost a valiant freedom fighter and a patriotic man at his death. They said the death of Ziauddin is an irreparable loss to the country. He will ever be remembered for his outstanding contribution in the Liberation War and democratic movements, they also said. They prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul of Ziauddin and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family members. Ziauddin who had been suffering from liver ailments, died at a Singapore hospital on Friday morning at the age of 67.
Practical Action Bangladesh
A discussion on the occasion of distributing 15 new jute fiber extraction machines among 30 entrepreneur male and female farmers organised by Practical Action Bangladesh was held at Begum Rokeya auditorium in Rangpur. In the programme held recently the speakers stressed upon the adoption of semi-automated jute fiber extraction machines and low-cost retting technologies to get high quality of fiber necessary for producing updated jute products. In the function jute fiber extraction machines were distributed among trained entrepreneurs, who are also members of union level federations of RDRS Bangladesh of Rangpur, Kurigram, Lalmonirhat and Gaibandha districts. PAB distributed the machines under its “Securing Employment and Economic Development around Jute Textile and Light Engineering Sector in North-West Bangladesh” project. RDRS Bangladesh, Karupannya Rangpur Limited and Rangpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) are assisting PAB in implementing the project with financial assistance of European Commission.
