U-23 friendly football: Bangladesh-Nepal match ends in draw

The Bangladesh, Nepal Under-23 two-match SS Steel International Football friendly series ended in 1-1 draw as the visiting side beat host 1-0 in the 2nd and last match at Sylhet District stadium on Friday.
Earlier, Bangladesh won the first match also by 1-0 on August 26 at Bangladesh Army Stadium, Banani in Dhaka.
In the day’s match, Sushil Kesing scored the match winning goal in 77th minute by a left footed placing shot on a cut back off Robin Shreshta.
In the 11th minute, Bangladesh forward Wahed Ahmed came close to a strike but failed to convert as he lost control over the ball while trying to generate power.
Playing counterattacking football, Nepal also pulled out their chances in the 29th and 48th minutes.
The day’s match was delayed one hour as thousands of crowd entering the field while the gallery was already jam packed.
The Nepalese team, comprising 20 players and four officials, will return home on Saturday after their six-day trip.
Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) earlier invited the Himalayan team as part of Bangladesh’s preparation for the Asian Games Football that will begin in the South Korea city of Incheon on September 14.
Bangladesh has been placed in Group-B of the Asian Games football along with SAFF football champions Afghanistan, Hong Kong and stronger Uzbekistan.
Bangladesh football team is expected to leave Dhaka for Incheon on September 12 to take part in the Asian Games.
Bangladesh will start their Asian Games football campaign against Afghanistan on September 15 at Munhak Stadium. They will meet giant Uzbekistan on Sept 18 and Hong Kong on Sept 22 in the remaining group matches.
