A discussion organised by Bangabandhu Sangskritik Jote (BSJ) was held in the auditorium of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy in the city’s Segunbagicha on the 25th instant. Awami League Publicity and Publication Affairs Secretary Dr Hasan Mahmud was present as the chief guest in the programme. While speaking Hasan said BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia, now in London, wants to create instability in the country through a blueprint. “Begum Zia wants to create an unstable situation in the country. She is now communicating with different militant organisations, even with the representatives of IS,” he said. Hasan Mahmud said the BNP made alliance with many militant organisations, including Jamaat-e-Islami and they launched an attack on the then Opposition Leader Sheikh Hasina. They also carried out series of bomb blasts across the country and killed innocent people during their regime, he added. BNP is now a terrorist organisation and they have no right to do politics, he observed. The function was addressed, among others, by AL leader Advocate Baloram Poddar, BSJ Advisor and ward councilor Hasibur Rahman Manik and farmer leader MA Karim. General Secretary of the jote Arun Sarker Rana presided over the event.

A seminar titled ‘e-Commerce Payments and Logistics’ jointly organised by Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS) and Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) was held at Lakeshore Hotel in the city. In the
programme held recently speakers said that e-commerce market in Bangladesh is expected to get a big boost in near future with double-digit growth per month but growth of this nascent industry is adversely affected due to the lack of appropriate e-payment and logistics framework in the country. In Bangladesh, 22 percent of 66 million internet users are engaged in online shopping, they said and suggested developing an appropriate e-payment and logistics framework to facilitate the e-commerce market. The seminar mainly highlighted the most common hindrances on the way of e-Commerce growth, investment opportunities in e-commerce ecosystem and recommendations for relevant policy makers.
