Sector Commanders Forum
Sector Commanders Forum (SCF) in a statement on Wednesday expressed its happiness over the execution of war criminal Motiur Rahman Nizami. The forum said family members of martyrs and the war-injured heaved a sigh of relief and sensed justice after more than four decades following the execution of Nizami, who was convicted with capital punishment by the court for his crimes against humanity that include mass killings, arson and abduction. The SCF said Nizami was a notorious stooge of Pakistan army and a key planner to kill intellectuals as a major blue print designer on behalf of the pro-Pakistani Al-badr and Al-Shams militia forces. It said the verdict and its execution was a new victory for the citizens of Bangladesh.
Hindu, Bouddha and Christian Oikya Parishad
The leaders of Bangladesh Hindu, Bouddha and Christian Oikya Parishad exchanged views with information minister Hasanul Haq Inu at Shaheed Colonel Taher Auditorium in the city on Tuesday. While speaking Inu said the present government is pledge-bound for ensuring safety and security of all religious and ethnic minorities of the country. He also said that the government is working hard for removing all sorts of disparity among all religious and ethnic minorities in the country. The programme was attended, among others, by Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) General Secretary Shirin Akthar, MP, its Presidium Member Prof Dr Anwar Hossain, Vice-President Advocate Shah Zikrul Islam and General Secretary of the Parishad Advocate Rana Das Gupta.
Bangladesh Swadhinata Parishad
A discussion organised in memory of noted nuclear scientist Dr Wazed Mia marking his 7th death anniversary by Bangladesh Swadhinata Parishad was held at Jatiya Press Club. Publicity and Publication Affairs Secretary of Bangladesh Awami league Dr Hasan Mahmud was present as the chief guest. While speaking Hasan alleged that BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia has been doing politics in Bangladesh as an agent of Pakistan. Khaleda Zia and her party usually express the identical reaction to that of Pakistan after each of the verdict handed down against the war criminals, he added. The programme was also addressed, among others, by former State Minister for Home Affairs Advocate Shamsul Haque Tuku, President of US unit Awami League (AL) Dr Siddiqur Rahman, Assistant Secretary to AL sub-committee Advocate Balaram Poddar and General Secretary of Swadhinata Shikshak Parishad Shahjahan Alam Saju. President of the organisation Shahdat Hossain presided over the discussion. In the programme the speakers recalled the contributions of Wazed Mia.
