Bangladesh Hawker Sangram Parishad
A rally organised by Bangladesh Hawker Sangram Parishad was held in front of the Jatiya Press Club in the city on Saturday. In the programme the speakers bitterly criticized allegedly plundering of goods of hawkers by Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) at dead of night on July 1 last from the city’s Palton-Gulistan Baitul Mokarram areas. They urged the authority concerned for the rehabilitation of hawkers before eviction and adequate compensation to the hawkers. The function was addressed, among others, by Member Secretary of the parishad Sekendar Hayat, its central leaders Harun-ar-Rashid, Abul Kalam Jewel, Alamgir Talukder, Parvin Akhtar, Sumon Mia and Abul Khaer. The parishad also brought out a procession which paraded different streets in the city to press home its demands. Central leader of the parishad AKM Khairul Bashar presided over the programme. The speakers also demanded to formulate national policy for the rehabilitation of the hawkers.
Dream Touch Foundation
A views exchange meeting with disable children and their families organised by Dream Touch Foundation was held in the VIP Lounge of the Jatiya Press Club in the city. In the programme held recently the speakers said today’s children are the future of tomorrow. It is the responsibility of the state to make congenial atmosphere to build the children as the worthy citizens of the country, they added. The state should ensure advantages of the children specially who are disabled. The speakers opined that media and society can play pioneering role in this regard. They called upon all to play role to make a society free from disparity.
