 Foundation for Learning, Teaching and Research (FLTR) has successfully completed of certificate course on Teaching for Active Learning (TAL) from 18 to 20 May at UIU campus. A total of 41 faculty members from 5 public and 16 private universities attended the course. The course was designed for orienting and developing teaching and learning skills of senior and junior faculty members of different universities. Prof. Dr Md. Golam Samdani Fakir, Vice Chancellor of GUB provided overall guidance and acted as lead facilitator and Director for the course. David Maynard, Deputy Director of Britsh Council Bangladesh; Shaheen Khan Cultural Specialist of the American Center, U.S Embassy; Prof Syed Saad Andaleeb, VC, BRAC University; Prof. Yousuf M Islam, Vice Chancellor of Daffodil International University were present as guests where Prof Dr M Rezwan Khan, VC , United International University (UIU) chaired the closing session. Eminent educationists Prof Syed Saad Andaleeb, VC , BRAC University; Prof Yousuf M Islam, VC , DIU, Prof Dr Mohammad Kaykobad, BUET and Prof Dr Md. Mozahar Ali, Director, GTI, Bangladesh Agricultural University facilitated different sessions of the course, says a press release.

Department of English, University of Asia Pacific (UAP) staged a total of seven Shakespearean plays in original or adaptations on May 24, 2017 as a part of celebration of 453rd birthday of William Shakespeare, the English poet and playwright who deserves his reputation as the most influential writer in all English literature. The plays performed by the students in the festival included Hamlet, Merchant of Venice, Tempest, Othello, A Mid-summer Night’s Dream, As You Like It and Macbeth. Prof Dr. M. R. Kabir, Acting VC, UAP, attended the festival as Chief Guest while Takad Ahmed Chowdhury, Head, English, UAP, presided over the programme. The panel of judges included Mohammad Moniruzzaman Akhand, Chair, Department of English, Eastern University; Theotonius Gomes, Assistant Professor, Department of English, American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB) and Ms. Nellufar Yeasmin, Assistant Professor, Department of English, UAP. The programme received a wide accolade from the audience. Later, prizes were distributed in different categories, says a press release.
