Bangladesh Hawker Sangram Parishad
A rally organised by Bangladesh Hawker Sangram Parishad was held in front of the Jatiya Press Club in the city on the 20th instant to meet it various demands. While speaking the leaders of the parishad demanded immediate rehabilitation of the hawkers before their eviction. The leaders also declared to hold grand rally on May 25 in Dhaka for the implementation of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s directive and High Court order. The programme was addressed, among others, by central leaders of the parishad Jashim Uddin, Arif Chowdhury, Alamgir Talukder, Saijuddin, Shafiqur Rahman Bablu, Abdul Mannan and President of Jago Bangladesh Garments Sramik Federation Baharane Sultan Bahar.The leaders of the parishad called upon all hawkers to be united to make the grand rally a success to meet their demands immediately. Convenor of the organisation Abul Hosain presided over the function.
Bangladesh Kishani Sabha
A rally organised jointly by Bangladesh Kishani Sabha, Bangladesh Krishak Federation and Bangladesh Bhumihin Samity was held in front of the Jatiya Press Club in the city recently in observance of the International Peasants’ Movement Day. In the programme the speakers demanded adequate compensation to the peasants of haor areas which were affected by flashflood. They also demanded for declaration of the flood-affected areas as disaster areas. The speakers also demanded to reform agriculture and land for saving the farmers. The peasants’ leaders demanded recognition of the labour of women peasants. They also demanded for introduction of agriculture insurance and pension scheme for the farmers. They demanded maternity allowance for women farmers. The rally was addressed, among others, by leader of Workers Party of Bangladesh Abul Hosain, General Secretary of Bangladesh Sramik Federation AAM Faiz Hossain, General Secretary of Samajtantrik Majdur Party Dr Shamsul Alam, President of Jago Bangladesh Garments Sramik Federation Baharane Sultan Bahar, General Secretary of Bangladesh Kishani Sabha Arjuman Ara Begum and General Secretary of Bangladesh Bhasman Nari Sramik Union Jahanara Begum. President of Bangladesh Krishak Federation Jayed Iqbal Khan presided over the function.
