Communist Party of Bangladesh
A rally organised by the Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB) was held in front of the Jatiya Press Club in the city on Tuesday. In the function the speakers stressed upon the equal sharing of Teesta water. They wished Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s upcoming India visit will increase friendship between the two countries. The programme was addressed, among others, by Presidium Member of CPB Comrade Mohammad Shah Alam, Comrade Aniruddha Das Anjan, member of the central committee Comrade Ruhin Hossain Prince, Comrade Abdullah Kafi Ratan and President of Dhaka Committee Comrade Moslehuddin. General Secretary of its Dhaka Committee Comrade Dr Sajedul Haque Rubel conducted the rally. The organisation brought out a rally which paraded different streets of the city in favour of its demands. CPB President Comrade Mujahidul Islam Selim presided over the event.
Lady’s Organisation for Social Welfare
Some 40 students of Silver Jubilee Government Primary School at Kumarpara area in Rajshahi received education materials free of cost. Lady’s Organisation for Social Welfare (LOFS), a non-government development and human rights organisation, donated the materials including school bags and tiffin boxes on the 2nd instant. Main thrust of the donation was to encouraging the students towards their institutional learning. School Managing Committee President Towfiqur Rahman and LOFS Executive Director Shahnaz Parveen Lucky addressed the distribution ceremony as chief and special guests respectively with Headmaster of the school Ambia Ferdousi Khanom in the chair. LOFS Law Secretary Advocate Shahinul Haque, Programme Manager Md Salahuddin and Programme Officer Champa Khatun and Headmaster of Pinnacle Study Home Sekender Hossain were present at the ceremony held in the school premises. Speaking on the occasion, the participants unanimously termed the students as future of the nation so all of us should stand beside them for transforming them into worthy citizens. Students’ dropout could be checked to a greater extent through such type of donation.
