A discussion marking the Independence and National Day organised by Bangladesh Medical Association (BMA) was held at its auditorium in the city’s Topkhana Road on Sunday. Health and Family Welfare Minister Mohammad Nasim was present as the chief guest. While speaking Nasim urged the people to extend their support to Awami League (AL) in the next general polls to defeat the BNP-Jamaat forever. “We have to defeat the BNP-Jamaat forever through wining in the next general elections,” said the minister. Terming the victory of BNP in the Comilla City Corporation polls, Nasima said in true sense this election is not the real election. The real election is the general election to be held in 2019, he added. The programme was also addressed, among others, by Attorney General Mahbub-e Alam ,Executive President of Ekattorer Ghatak Dalal Nirmul Committee Shahriar Kabir, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Quamrul Hasan, Awami League Health Affairs Secretary Dr Rokeya Sultana and Awami League leader Dr Badiuzzaman Bhuiyan Dablu. President of the association Dr Mostafa Jalal Mohiuddin presided over the function.
Jatiya Jubo Sanghati
A discussion in observance of the 34th founding anniversary of Jatiya Jubo Sanghati (JJS) organised by JJS was held in the city’s Engineers Institution on Sunday. Jatiya Party (JP) Chairman Hussein Muhammad Ershad was present as the chief guest. While speaking Ershad said his party will forge an alliance to take part in next general elections. “Jatiya Party will fight to go to power after gaining strength through an electoral alliance,” he added. Ershad said, “We need more supporters, if we want to go to power independently.” He urged the leaders and workers to form party units in every ward to strengthen the JP. The function was also addressed, among others, by Leader of the Opposition in Parliament and JP Senior Co-Chairman Begum Rowshan Ershad, JP Co-Chairman GM Quader, party General Secretary ABM Ruhul Amin Hawlader and its Presidium Member Moshiur Rahman Ranga.
