Movement for Trial of War Criminals
A seminar on ‘Achievements of Bangladesh in the past 45 years’ organised jointly by the Coordination Committee of Workers, Employees and Professional Freedom Fighters and the Movement for Trial of War Criminals was held at Dhaka Reporters Unity on Friday. Shipping Minister Shajahan Khan was present as the chief guest. While speaking Shajahan said election in Narayanganj has proved that neutral polls could be held under a party government. The minister further said that those who had resorted to arson in 2013, 2014 and 2015 should be tried. He also criticized Zia for rehabilitating war criminals and Khaleda Zia for making them ministers. He also said BNP-Jamaat was continuously conspiring to subvert the nation. Minister said after the killing of Bangabandhu history was distorted but now the new generation is reading the correct history. “They cannot be misled again, “he added.
Abdur Razzak Smriti Parishad
A discussion on the fifth death anniversary of former minister and one of the organisers of the Liberation War Abdur Razzak organised by ‘Abdur Razzak Smriti Parishad’ was held recently at Muslim Institute Hall in Chittagong. State Minister for Land Saifuzzaman Chowdhury was present as the chief guest. While speaking Saifuzzaman said former General Secretary of Awami League (AL) Abdur Razzak was an honest, able and dedicated leader who played important role in every democratic movement of the Bengalee nation from student life till his death. “Abdur Razzak was a front ranking organiser of Awami League after the assassination of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in 1975,” the state minister said. Razzak had worked for establishing the rights of the people until his death, he added. The programme was addressed, among others, by freedom fighter Golam Rabbani, Chittagong south district AL Vice-President Mohammad Idris, AL leaders Khurshed Alam, Moshiur Rahman and Anwara Upazila Chairman Touhidul Hoque Chowdhury. Convener of the parishad Rashed Monwar presided over the function.
