Eastern University (EU) hosted a reception to its graduating students on Wednesday at EU premises, Dhanmondi, Dhaka. Graduates of these 4 faculties attended the programme , says a press release.
Md. Azizul Islam, Chairman, Board of Trustees (BoT), EU was present as the Chief Guest. Prof Dr Abdul Hannan Chowdhury, Pro -VC of EU presided over the function while Md. Helal Uddin, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Education was present as the Guest of Honour. Abul Khair Chowdhury, Former Chairman, BoT; Engg. Khandaker Mesbah Uddin Ahmed, Member, BoT; Mr. Muhammed Siddique Hossain, Treasurer; Prof. Dr. Md. Nurul Islam, Dean, Faculty of Engineering & Technology; Prof. Dr. Borhan Uddin Khan, Advisor, Department of Law; Prof. Dr. Ashraf Hossain, Chairperson, Faculty of Business Administration; Prof. Dr. Mirza Golam Rabbani, Chairperson, Department of Electrical & Electronic Engineering; Prof. Dr. Md. Mahfuzur Rahman, Chairperson, Department of Computer Science & Engineering; Ms. Sureya Huda, Chairperson, English and Mr. Abul Basher Khan, Registrar were spoke on the occasion. Chairpersons, faculty members and officials graced the occasion with their presence. Some of the outgoing students spoke about the experiences at Eastern University, and expressed their utmost satisfaction at having chosen the EU.

Prof. Dr. Md. Golam Samdani Fakir, Vice-Chancellor of Green University of Bangladesh has been awarded George Harrison Award 2016 for his outstanding contribution in the field of education. He received the award at the Professor Akhtar Imam Auditorium recently, Prof. Md. Golam Samdani Fakirreceived AtishDipankar Gold Medal-2016 for his outstanding contribution in the field of education and “Lifetime Achievement Award” from Bangladesh Organization for Learning and Development for his outstanding contribution in the field of learning and development. He is one of the co-founders of ‘Global Partnership for NGO Studies, Education and Training’ and ‘Foundation for Learning, Teaching and Research ‘. Prof SamdaniFakir also received Global Awards for excellence in education, leadership and teaching from World Education Congress, Mumbai, India bothin 2012 and 2014. For his contributions in Afghanistan and Global Partnership Programme, he was also selected as one of the recipients of the RapportBangladesh 2004 Award for Excellence in Human Resource Development.
