Wangala Festival Celebration Committee
A discussion in observance of Wangala festival of the Garo Community organised by Wangala Festival Celebration Committee was held at RAJUK playground at Banani in the city on Friday. Awami League Presidium Member and Health and Family Welfare Minister Mohammad Nasim was present as the chief guest. While speaking Nasim said the countrymen do not like BNP for its politics of killing innocent people in arson attacks. “The countrymen irrespective of caste, creed and religions will cast their votes for Awami League again in the next general elections as the people enjoy their rights and witness unprecedented development whenever the party stays in power,” he added. Nasim said the overall development of country under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been appreciated at home and abroad. “The people have the right to enjoy outcome of the development accomplished by the AL government. You have contribution to this achievement,” he said. The programme was attended, among others, by Lawmaker Jewel Areng, Awami League Central Working Committee Member Prof Raymond Areng and former President of Christian Cooperative Credit Union Limited, Dhaka Gabriel Rozario.
Muktijoddha Command Council
Rich tributes were paid to the seven martyrs who laid down their lives in 1971 in Karimpur battle, Faridpur against the Pakistani occupation army at a function organised on Friday by Muktijoddha Command Council (MCC), Faridpur unit in the town. On the occasion MCC chalked out elaborate programmes including special prayer, discussion meeting and placing of floral wreaths at the mass graveyard inside Sheikh Jamal Stadium.The function was attended, among others, by ADC (Education & ICT), Faridpur Eradul Haque, Faridpur Command Council Chairman Abul Faez, Secretary Nazrul Islam and other freedom fighters. The freedom fighters who laid down their lives in Karimpur battle were Kazi Salauddin Nasim, Mesbahuddin Nowfel, Abdul Wahab, Shamsuddin Molla, Mainuddin, Abdul Hamid and Mujibur Rahman.
