Bangabandhu Shiksha O Gabeshona Parishad
A discussion organised by Bangabandhu Shiksha O Gabeshona Parishad (BSGP) was held on Saturday in the auditorium of Dhaka University Business Studies Faculty. Awami League Joint General Secretary Mahbub-ul Alam Hanif was present as the chief guest. While speaking Hanif said BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia is misleading people by giving a formula to constitute a ‘search committee’ for the formation of Election Commission . “President will appoint election commissioners in due time as per the Constitution. BNP Chairperson should not create controversy over the issue,” he told. Hanif said Begum Zia is now calling for constituting all-party government but she forgot that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina had given proposal to form all-party government. “At that time, you (Khaleda) did not respond to the call for forming all-party government.You repeatedly rejected our proposals,” the Awami League leader said. The function was addressed, among others, by Awami League Office Secretary Dr Abdus Sobhan Golap, Dhaka City South Awami League General Secretary Shahe Alam Murad and Dhaka City North Awami League General Secretary Sadeq Khan. President of the parishad Professor Tofazzal Islam presided over the function.
Bangladesh Rural Advancement Committee
An advocacy meeting to eradicate sexual repression on women organised by Gender Justice and Diversity Division of Non Government Organisation (NGO) Bangladesh Rural Advancement Committee was held at Shahid Abdul Jabber auditorium of Mymensingh Zila Parishad recently. The organisation arranged it with a view to eradicating sexual repression and ensuring women’s safety for making peaceful and women friendly society. In the programme the speakers put emphasis on creation of mass awareness and social movement to protect the women from the culprits in order to make peaceful society. The programme was addressed, among others, by Deputy Commissioner of the district Md Khaliur Rahman, Additional Police Super S A Nawazee, Mymensingh District Women Affairs Officer Mosirun Nesa, Manager of Gender Justice and Diversity of the committee Anjumanara Begum and Dr Shab Uddin. About 35 head of different educational institutions, representatives of the civil society, women leaders and media men took part in the function. The speakers called upon all to be united against repression on women and children.
