Samyabadi Dal (M-L)
A seminar in observance of the 29th death anniversary of Comrade Toaaha, founder of the Samyabadi Dal (Marxist-Leninist) of Bangladesh organised by Samyabadi Dal (M-L) was held at the Jatiya Press Club on Monday. Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu was present as the chief guest. While speaking Inu said that Comrade Toaaha was a great soul who fought for the rights of workers, peasants, women and marginalized. He hoped that his followers and admirers would continue the struggle. He also appreciated Toaaha’s fight against inequality in society and his battle against imperialism. “Comrade Toaaha was a pragmatic politician and did not compromise on principle ,” he added. Inu said that socialists should lead the battle against militancy and pave the way for an egalitarian society, where all citizens had a right to a dignified life. He reiterated that in line with Comrade Toaaha’s policies the current government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was pursuing a policy of economic independence for the interest of working people. The programme was presided over by Comrade Dilip Barua, General Secretary of the organisation.
Bangladesh Swadhinata Parishad
A discussion on ‘Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s Development & Success and Current Politics’ organised by Bangladesh Swadhinata Parishad (BSP) was held at Dhaka Reporters Unity on Monday. Awami League Publicity and Publication Affairs Secretary Dr Hasan Mahmud was present as the chief guest. While speaking Hasan said there will be no dialogue with the party patronizing the terrorists and the war criminals. He however, said Awami League can sit for the talks with the BNP if it quits alliance with war criminals’ party Jamaat-e-Islami and begs apology to the nation for killing innocent people in patrol bombs attacks. The AL leader categorically said the next general election will be held in line with the Constitution of the country. He called upon all to remain alert against the conspiracy of the vested quarter who is trying to use the Muslim Rohingya issue of Myanmar in internal politics. The function was addressed, among others, by Awami League Relief and Special Welfare Secretary Sujit Roy Nandi and BSP President Jinnat Ali Jinnah. Adviser of the parishad Chittyaranjan Das presided over the event.
