BD Investment Dev Authority
A total of 305 investment proposals involving a total of Tk 50,251.0692 crore have been registered with the Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) during July-September period this year. The amount is up by Tk 10,017 crore compared to April-June period’s Tk 40,233.94 crore this year. BIDA registered a total of 444 investment proposals during April-June period this year, said a BIDA media release. Of the 305 proposals, 269 are local, 15 foreign and 21 are joint venture ones. BIDA received the highest (68.63 percent) investment proposal for engineering sector, followed by chemical sector (10 percent), textile sector (5.74 percent), print and publication sector (3.13 percent) and other sector (12.5 percent).
BD Cinema & TV Institute
The third founding anniversary of Bangladesh Cinema and Television Institute (BCTI) was held in the auditorium of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy in the city recently with its Director General Dr Mohammad Jahangir Hossain in the chair. In the programme Information Minister Hasanul Huq Inu was present as the chief guest. While speaking Inu said that films and film makers had a critical role in building the mindset for a secular, prosperous and creative nation. Inu said, “We are creating the ambience but you have to be creative, we cannot do that for you.” Referring to piracy in the film industry, he said, “Very soon we will have a central projection unit at the Film Development Corporation (FDC), which will project movies directly to movie houses. He also said the Bangabandhu Film City was being built at Kaliakoir which will have all modern amenities for modern film making. He hoped the BCTI would help to build necessary human resources to place Bangladesh among the leading film and television producing countries of the world. The function was also addressed among others, by, Prof. Dr Zakir Hossain, film maker and part time teacher of BCTI and Hira Lal Sen of Manikganj’ .
