Awami Krishak League
A discussion marking ‘Save Farmers-Save Country’ Day organised by Awami Krishak League was held at Bangabandhu Avenue in front of Awami League central office in the city on Sunday. Agriculture Minister Matia Chowdhury was present as the chief guest. While speaking Matia said Bangladesh has not only achieved self-sufficiency in food production rather it becomes a food-exporting country despite increasing of population and reducing of farm land. “Government subsidy in the agriculture sector and farming in technological method instead of traditional one and massive research in the sector have brought this remarkable success,” she added. The minister said no ill force can halt the progress of agriculture and farmers till Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina holds the helm of the country. “Whenever BNP comes to state power, the development of farmers and agriculture gets halted,” she said. The programme was addressed, among others, by Awami League Presidium member Agriculturist Dr Abdur Razzak and Awami League Joint General Secretary Mahbub-ul-Alam Hanif. Krishak League President Motahar Hossain Mollah presided over the function.
Palli Daridra Bemochon Foundation
A massive programmes organised by Palli Daridra Bemochon Foundation (PDBF) have been taken in Mymensingh to disburse loans among the low income groups of different income generating heads with a view to alleviating poverty through using loan money. PDBF sources told that under the programme Taka 2.70 crore was disbursed among the 65,628 low income persons of different heads through 17 units in the district during the current fiscal year. The sources said recovering of loan money is satisfactory. Besides, the PDBF distributed Taka 1.60 crore among 2,007 small entrepreneurs to assist them to run their small trades with a view to improving their economic condition and improve their life style in all 13 upazilas of the district.
