Human Rights and Legal Aid Services
Different organisations including Brac, Human Rights and Legal Aid Services (HRLAS) under the Property Rights Initiative (PRI) programme organised a meeting with journalists at Master Chef Restaurant in Rajshahi yesterday with a view to sensitizing the media personnel on the issue of property rights for poor and vulnerable people, particularly women. In the programme the speakers emphasized on media support to making the rural women aware on their access to property rights as many of them deprive of the rights. They said, the PRI has been designed to help the poor communities by identifying their entitlement to property rights and supporting them in accessing their claims. The event was addressed, among others, by HRLAS Project Managers Mojibar Rahman and Sadhan Kumar Nandi, District representative Jahedual Islam, Advocacy Officer Chandni Roy, Senior Sector Specialist Abdullah Al Rashid, Divisional Staff Lawyer Samaul Islam, Facilitator Khalilur Rahman, Upazila Manager Nazibul Islam and Field Officer Afzal Hossain. The speakers called upon all to be united to ensure the legal property rights of vulnerable women.
