Bangladesh Railway Sramik League
A cake cutting ceremony organised on the occasion of 97th birthday of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman by Bangladesh Railway Sramik League was held at its office in the city’s Shahjahanpur on Thursday. Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Rashed Khan Menon was present as the chief guest. While speaking Menon urged all to follow the ideology of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman aiming to take the country forward. “We have to make ourselves as truly golden man of Sonar Bangla,” he added. He also called upon all to strengthen the hands of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and make the country as a developed one in the globe. The programme was addressed, among others, by General Secretaty of the organisation Habibur Rahman Akand. President of the organisation Advocate Mohammad Humayun Kabir presided over the event.
BD-India Friendship Society
The central executive committee of Bangladesh-India Friendship Society was formed at a meeting held recently at Dhaka University’s Senate Bhavan with Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Information Ministry, A K M Rahmatullah, MP, as its Chairman. Vice-Chancellor of Dhaka University, Prof Dr A A M S Arefin Siddiqui was elected as its Executive Chairman while Nantu Roy, Editor of Bharat Bichitra as General Secretary.
Bangladesh Khetmajur Samity
A discussion on 35th founding anniversary of Bangladesh Khetmajur Samity was held at Moitree Auditorium of Muktibhaban in the city’s Purana Palton on Friday. In the programme the speakers called upon all to be united to ensure rights of farm employees. They also urged the government to introduce rationing system for agricultural labourers. The speakers paid rich tributes to those who sacrificed their lives during movement for realizing their demands.
