Nat’l Authority for Chemical Weapons Convention
The closing ceremony of a 3-day long Regional Seminar on Chemical Safety and Security Management organised by Bangladesh National Authority for Chemical Weapons Convention (BNACWC) was held at Antora Hall, Raddison Blu Water Garden in the city on Thursday. Prof Saiful Islam, Vice-Chancellor, Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) graced the occasion as the chief guest and later distributed certificates among the participants. The Member Secretary of BNACWC, Brig Gen Azazul Bari Chowdhury, 20 representatives from SAARC and ASEAN member countries and 20 members from various organisations of Bangladesh attended the seminar. Speakers discussed on the safe use of chemicals and its implementation. It may be mentioned that the seminar started on October 18 last.
Bangladesh Narimukti Kendra
A rally organised by Bangladesh Narimukti Kendra (BNK), Rangpur unit was held yesterday at Katchari Bazar point in Rangpur to create public awareness against social erosion for building a healthier society. In the rally the speakers have called for stopping social erosion, obscene culture, posters and porno websites, drug abuse, gambling and violence against women and children. They strongly protested against spread of unhealthy culture using women in advertisements and posters. The speakers called for banning of the anti-liberation and religion- based communal politics and bringing an end to social erosion for ensuring security to womenfolk for accelerating national development without any hindrance. BNK leaders also submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner’s Office for taking effective steps to stop social erosion for saving young generations and adolescents from moral degradation in building a healthier and peaceful society.
The rally was addressed, among others, by District unit member of Bangladesher Samajtantrik Dal (Marxist) Polash Kanti Nag, district unit President of Samajtantrik Chhatra Front Ahsanul Arefin Titu, BNK members Nandini Das, Shapla Roy and Chandona Roy. Office Secretary of BNK’s district unit Kamrunnahar Khanom Shikha presided over the programme.
