Some 254 blood donors who have given bloods at least 10 to 25 times have been honoured with certificates, crests and medals at a ceremony organised by Quantum Foundation, a social organisation at Jatiya Press Club on Friday. National Board of Revenue (NBR) Chairman Md Nojibur Rahman joined the function as the chief guest. Chief Coordinator of the foundation Nahar Al Bokhari presided over the programme.
Bangladesh Ganotantrik Sangsad
A discussion on ‘Union Council Elections and Future of Democracy’ organised by Bangladesh Ganotantrik Sangsad was held at the Jatiya Press Club on Thursday. BNP Vice-Chairman Shah Moazzem Hossain was present as the chief guest. While speaking Shah Moazzem urged the government to hold parliamentary election under United Nations. Besides, no election will be acceptable in the country. He also demanded to hold upcoming union council election free and fair. The discussion was also addressed, among others, by President of Jatiyatabai Jubo Dal Advocate Syed Moazzem Hossain Alal, BNP leader and President of Swadhinata Forum Abu Naser Mohammad Rahmatullah, President of Bangladesh Ganotantrik Sangsad Chowdhury Rajib Hasan Ripon, Kalyan Party leaders Saidur Rahman and Farid Ahmed.
Islamic Varsity Officers Assoc
The authority of Islamic University Officers Association (IUOA) in Kushtia withdrew their work abstention and sit in plan programme demanding increasing their salaries. The decision came at a general meeting of the Officer Association on Thursday with the president of the association Mohammad Sohel in the chair. While speaking Sohel said “We withdrew our agitation programme after getting assurance from the university authority. We will go to the indefinite work abstention again, if the university authority does not fulfil their commitment”.
