Swadhinata Parishad
A discussion on ‘Execution of death sentence handed down to the fugitive self-confessed killers of Bangabandhu by bringing them back home and current politics’ organised recently by Dhaka City unit of Swadhinata Parishad was held at the Jatiya Press Club.Awami League Publicity and Publication Affairs Secretary Dr Hasan Mahmud was present as the chief guest. While speaking Hasan said BNP doesn’t want constituting of the new Election Commission (EC) through the search committee. “BNP wants to go to power by hook or by crook. They want persons of their choice to be set in the Election Commission by the President,” he said. The AL leader said, “The fugitive killers should be brought back home at the earliest to execute the capital punishment handed down to them with a view to freeing the nation from an age-old stigma.” The programme was also addressed, among others, by Former State Minister for Home Affairs Advocate Shamsul Haque Tuku, President of the Parishad Jinnat Ali Khan Jinnah, Sabujbagh Thana AL General Secretary Lion Chitta Ranjan Das and Bangabandhu Sangskritik Jote General Secretary Arun Sarker Rana. Adviser of the organisation Meer Md Abu Hanif presided over the event.
Baishakhi Sangeet Academy
An Eid reunion, reception to meritorious students and a cultural show organised by Baishakhi Sangeet Academy was held in the auditorium of Narsingdi Pourasabha on Friday. A total of 10 students, who secured A+ in the last PSC, JSC and SSC examinations from Baishakhi Academy were accorded reception at the function. Mayor of Narsingdi Pourasabha Kamruzzaman spoke at the function as the chief guest while former Principal of Narsingdi Government College Prof Mohammad Ali, former Principal of Narsingdi Government Mohila College Kalam Mahmud, Assistant Literary Secretary of Bangladesh Awami Volunteer League Prof Mohammad Motaher Hossain and journalist Majharul Farvez Montee as the special guests. The chief guest and special guests later handed over crests to the brilliant students of Baishakhi Academy. President of Baishakhi Sangeet Academy Asaduzzaman presided over the function.
