Bangladesh Nari Mukti Kendra
A rally organised on the occasion of Women Repression Resistance Day by Bangladesh Nari Mukti Kendra, a non-government organisation was held in front of the Jatiya Press Club in the city on Wednesday. In the rally the speakers bitterly criticized the killing of meritorious student Afsana Ferdous, an activist of Bangladesh Students’ Union. They called upon the authority concerned to nab the culprit(s) involved in the killing and give exemplary punishment to the culprits. The speakers also demanded trial of those involved in Tonu killing.The function was addressed, among others, by the member of the central executive committee of Bangladesher Samajtantrik Dal (Marxist) Comrade Shubhrangshu Chakravarty, Central Vice-President of Nari Mukti Kendra Advocate Sultana Akter Rubi, its Organizing Secretary Monideepa Bhattachariya, President of Samajtantrik Chhatra Front Naima Khaled Monika and Finance Secretary of the Kendra Taslima Akter Beauty. President of the organisation, central committee Seema Dutta presided over the event.
Sher-e-Bangla Samajik Sangskritik Foundation
A discussion organised by Sher-e-Bangla Samajik Sangskritik Foundation was held at the Seminar Hall of the Central Public Library in the city’s Shahbag marking the National Mourning Day commemorating the 41st martyrdom anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque was present as the chief guest. While speaking the minister said that the state would be freed from an age-old stigma by banning the politics of Jamaat soon.
“Besides, all the properties of Jamaat would be confiscated for distribution among the families of the martyred freedom fighters,” he added. The minister also called upon the forces loyal to independence to strengthen Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s hands for the sake of continuation of the development projects. The programme was also addressed, among others, by Poet Kazi Rosy, MP. Adviser of the Foundation Principal Sujaul Karim Babul presided over the function.
