Bangladesh National Awami Party
A protest meeting against proposal for increasing gas price organised by Bangladesh National Awami Party-Bangladesh NAP was held in Jadu Miah Auditorium in the city’s Nayapalton on Wednesday. In the meeting the speakers bitterly criticized the proposal for increasing gas price. They termed the proposal as illegal and anti-people. They called upon all to be united against this unexpected proposal to hike gas price for the greater interest of the common people. The programme was addressed, among others, by Secretary General of the organisation M Golam Mostofa Bhuiyan, its city unit Member Secretary Shahidunnabi Dablu, Joint Convenor Ansar Rahman Sikder and its sramik leader Abdullah Al Kawsari. City unit Convenor of NAP Syed Shahjahan Saju presided over the programme.
BD Sarkari Sramik Karmachari Kalyan Fed
An anti-militancy rally organised by Bangladesh Sarkari Sramik Karmachari Kalyan Federation was held in front of the National Museum in the city’s Shahbagh on Wednesday prior to bringing out a flag procession. In the programme the speakers called upon the people from all walks of life to be united against militancy and communalism and strengthen the hands of Prime Minster Sheikh Hasina to eliminate militancy. They said the politics of BNP-Jamaat is to kill people with bombs. BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia is now playing with the militants to go to power, they added. The rally was addressed, among others, by Shipping Minister Shajahan Khan, State Minister for Women and Children Affairs Meher Afroze Chumki, Muktijoddha Sangsad Vice-President Ismat Quadir Gama, Film Director Rokeya Prachi, Chief Adviser of the organisation Sahabuddin and its Secretary General Muhammad Hedayet Hossain. President of the federation M Wares Ali presided over the function.
