Bangabandhu Gabeshana Parishad A discussion and Doa Mahfil on 86th birth anniversary of Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnessa Mujib organised by Bangabandhu Gabeshana Parishad was held at Red Chilli Restaurant in the city’s Topkhana Road on Monday. In the discussion the speakers said Sheikh Fazilatunnessa was the source of inspiration of all the works of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. The participants prayed for the salvation of her departed soul. The programme was addressed, among others, by President of the parishad Lion Gani Miah Babul, its Vice-President Nurul Islam Talukder, Education and Cultural Secretary of the organisation Advocate Mokhlesur Rahman, its Office Secretary Abdur Razzak and Sports Secretary Azizur Rahman Bhuiyan. Bangladesh Harizan Oikya Parishad A discussion titled ‘Say No to Terrorism and Yes to Peace’ organised by Bangladesh Harizan Oikya Parishad was held at Jatiya Press Club in the city on Tuesday. Shipping Minister Shajahan Khan was present as the chief guest. While speaking the minister said resistance alone would not be enough to prevent militancy as the nation requires a crash programme to wipe out the menace rooted in the deep of society. He also touched upon some of the issues of the ‘Harizan community and said some of the positive steps have already been taken to improve their condition. He also said further steps would be taken to provide job quota to ensure public sector employment for the educated children of the Harizan community. The minister also said it is the BNP-Jamaat alliance that has been trying to fish in the troubled waters, especially when GDP is accelerating and the country is moving fast towards development. The programme was addressed, among others, by State Minister for Social Welfare Nuruzzaman Ahmed, Dhaka University professor Dr Mesbah Kamal and the parishad leaders Krishna Lal & Nirmal Chandra Das.
