Mohajir Welfare Association
A rally organised by Mohajir Welfare Association was held in front of Jatiya Press Club on Wednesday. In the rally the speakers bitterly criticized the heinous attacks at Holey Artisan Bakery in the city’s Gulshan and Sholakia Eidgah ground in Kishoreganj. They called upon all to build unity against militancy and communalism for the greater interest of the nation. The rally was addressed, among others, by Senior Vice-President of the organisation Mozahid Hossain Shamim, its Joint Secretary Mohammad Alam, Project Director Jahangir Alam Liton and Project Manager Bulu Miah. Founder General Secretary of the association Oshi Ahmed presided over the function.

A workshop on finalizing National Youth Policy-2016 organised by Center for Research and Information (CRI) was held in the city. It was organised with the objectives to collect feedback, opinions, suggestions and recommendations from key policymakers, stakeholders and experts in the arena of Youth Development and engagement in order to finalize the draft policy. The workshop also provided an opportunity to brainstorm on the next steps which include developing an Action Plan for implementing this policy. The workshop served as an effective forum for the stakeholders to give their opinions directly to the policymakers as regards the draft National Youth Policy. The programme was addressed, among others, by State Minister for Youth and Sports Dr Biren Sikder, Chairman of Parliamentary Standing Committee on Ministry of Youth and Sports Zahid Ahsan Russel, MP, Convenor of Young Bangla Nahim Razzaq, MP, Secretary of Youth and Sports Ministry Kazi Akter Uddin Ahmed, Advocate Sanjida Khanom, MP, Executive Director of CRI Sabbir Bin Shams and Director General of the Department of Youth Development Anwarul Karim.
