Ruling party Bangladesh Awami League’s associate body Bangladesh Krishak League now harvesting paddy of local farmers amid scorching heat as AL Joint General Secretary and Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud instructed them to stand beside marginal farmers. Rangunia Upazila Krishak League inaugurated the paddy-cutting programme at the field of Abdun Nobi in Gumaibil village of Rangunia. Shafiqul Islam, General Secretary of Chattogram North District Krishak League, said that union-based teams have been formed in Rangunia at the instruction of the information minister in order to help farmers. Every day, they will go to some beel areas in Rangunia and cut the paddy of the poor farmers maintaining social distance, he added. Like every year, the workers are not able to come from different parts of the country this year due to the effect of corona and lockdown. As a result, the farmers of Gumaibil are in dire straits due to lack of labor, he added. Farmer Abdun Nobi expressed his gratitude to the Krishak league for standing by the marginal farmer. “When I could not find workers, brothers of Chhatra League came and cut the paddy of my land and took it to home,” he added.
