Jahangirnagar University Journalists’ Association celebrated its 49th founding anniversary on the university campus. JU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Farzana Islam inaugurated the daylong programme on Saturday virtually around 11.00 am. JU Pro-VC (Administration) Professor Md Amir Hussain, Adviser of the association Prof Dr. Sohel Ahmed, Prof Dr. Bashir Ahemd, Prof Dr. Abdullah Hel Kafi, Director of JU Teacher-Student Centre (TSC) Prof Md. Alamgir Kabir, Prof Dr. Motaher Hossain, Prof Md. Khabir Uddin, Prof Dr Shamsul Alam Selim, Prof Dr Md Shahedur Rashid, Prof Khalid Kuddus, Prof Dr. Ali Azam Talukder, Prof. Dr. Jebunnessa, JU acting proctor ASM Firoj Ul Hassan, Associate Prof Dr Mohammad Tarikul Islam spoke the function, among others. Teachers of different departments, officials, leaders and activists of different political, cultural and social organisations were present at the programme. Conducted by Kazi Jakir Hossain, JUJA President of 1999 session, a virtual reminiscing event with former members of the organization was held at around 3.00 pm. Meanwhile, the newly elected executive committee of the association took charge on the day for the 2021 session. It may be mentioned that the association was founded in 1972 and is known as the country’s first university-based journalists’ association.
