International Volunteer Day-2018 amid various programmes organised by Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BRCS) was celebrated on Wednesday across the country including its headquarters in the capital. The theme of the day was ‘Thanks Volunteer’. To mark the day, the organisation has chalked out elaborate programmes including distribution of leaflets among the city pedestrians and providing voluntary service to the traffic police at the city’s two important points – Maghbazar and Bangla Motor for creating awareness on road crossing among the people. Besides, hand washing programme was held at three city schools, city slums at Tejgaon railway and Pearabagh. Children art competition at two disabled schools and distribution of gifts were among the programmes.The function was addressed, among others, by BRCS’s Treasurer Advocate Towhidur Rahman, Managing Board member Lutfor Rahman Chowdhury Helal and its Secretary General M Feroz Salauddin.
