A discussion on historic ‘Mujibnagar Day’ organized by ‘Amra Muktijoddhar Santan’ (AMS) was held in the city with its President Sazzad Hossain in the chair. General Secretary of the organization Rasheduzzaman conducted it. Leaders of AMS urged the government to set up a special tribunal to try those involved in distorting the country’s history including the war of liberation. Exemplary punishment should be given to those who are involved in distorting the history, the leaders said and urged the authorities concerned for brining an amendment to the existing laws of the land and if necessary set up a special tribunal. Among others, presidium members of the organization Jubaida Haq, Dr Kazi Saifuddin, Hamim Ahmed Chowdhury and its central leaders Haroon-or-Rashid, Gulzar Hossain, Ahmed Russel, Abu Taher addressed the discussion. Leaders of the organisation alleged that a section of people is resorting to speculative information to undermine the country’s 1971 achievement, saying there is no scope to allow it to continue and it should be resisted.
