DU Friends’ Association
The second reunion of Dhaka University Friends’ Association (DUFA) was celebrated on Dhaka University campus amid festivity and enthusiasm on Friday. DU Vice-Chancellor Professor Md Akhtaruzzaman inaugurated the celebration by cutting a cake at Teacher-Student Centre (TSC) on the campus. A colorful procession led by the Vice-Chancellor was brought out from TSC premises of the university which returned to the venue after parading different campus thoroughfares.
Quantum Foundation
A discussion to honour the blood donors organised by Quantum Foundation, a voluntarily blood donation organisation was held at the Institute of Diploma Engineers, Bangladesh (IDE’B) in the city’s Kakrail on Friday. Chairman of the National Board of Revenue
Mosharraf Hossain Bhuiyan was present as the chief guest. While speaking Mosharraf said the life of blood donors’ is successful. “Those of you who are donating blood, your life are successful. Because, the blood you’re donating is saving the life of others,” he added. Putting emphasis on raising the quality of living standards alongside unleashing economic development, Mosharraf said, “We’ve attained economic progress, our country is moving ahead. We’ve graduated from the Least Developed Country status.” In the function, the foundation honoured some 200 volunteer blood donors who have donated blood for over 10 to 50 times with crests, ID cards, certificates and medals. Professor of the Hematology Department of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University Dr ABM Yunus gave the address of welcome. Chief Coordinator of the foundation Madam Nahar Al Bokhari presided over the event.
