Bangladesh Hawkers Union
A rally organised by Bangladesh Hawkers Union was held in front of Muktibhaban in the city’s Purana Palton on Monday. In the programme the speakers demanded immediate release of arrested hawkers’ leader Manjur Moyeen. They urged the government and other concerned authorities to solve the problems of hawkers. They also demanded to rehabilitate the hawkers before eviction. The function was addressed, among others, by Convenor of Bangladesh Hawker Sangram Parishad Abul Hossain and General Secretary of the union Sekander Hayat. President of the organisation Abul Hashem Kabir presided over the event.
Electronic Safety & Security Assoc of BD
A press conference organised by Electronic Safety and Security Association of Bangladesh (ESSAB) was held at Dhaka Reporters Unity. In the programme held on the thirty first ultimo Director General of Fire Service and Civil Defence Brigadier General Ali Ahmed Khan said that fire causes losses of properties and goods worth Taka 4,834 crore every year in Bangladesh. ESSAB President Md Motahar Hossain read out a written speech while leaders of the association including Secretary General Nazmul Huda, among others, were present on the occasion. Khan said, “Nearly 88,000 fire incidents occurred in the past six years causing deaths of 1,400 people. The estimated losses caused by fire stood at Taka 29,000 crore.” He blamed lack of awareness among the people for these fire incidents. Motahar said the ESSAB is going to hold the fifth edition of the International Fire Safety and Security Expo-2018 at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre(BICC) in the capital to create mass awareness by educating the people. The three-day expo will begin tomorrow.
