A memorial meeting on former Chairman of the Control Commission of the Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB) Comrade Mohammad Nabi organised by the party was held at Progati Conference Room of Muktibhaban in the city’s Purana Palton on Tuesday. In the programme the speakers said the life and work of Comrade Nabi is the source of inspiration for the new generation. The function was addressed, among others, by CPB Advisory Council Member Manjurul Ahsan Kahn, President of Oikya NAP Pankaj Bhattachariya, Member of the Control Commission of CPB Kazi Sohrab Hossain and Vice-President of Mahila Parishad Fowzia Moslem. President of the organisation Muzahidul Islam Selim presided over the event.
Jahangirnagar University Science Club
A freshers’reception organised by Jahangirnagar University Science Club (JUSC) to welcome the newly admitted students of Jahangirnagar University under the academic session 2017-18 was held on Tuesday at the Zahir Raihan auditorium of the university. Eminent Plasma Physicist and Professor of JU Physics Department Dr AA Mamun addressed the function as the chief guest. The function was included with a scientific session where the newly admitted students were given their ideas on higher education in abroad. The function was also addressed, among others, by noted Mosquito Researcher Professor Kabirul Bashar and Chief Adviser of the club Prof Khabir Uddin. Over 700 students of different departments under Physics, Mathematical Science Faculty and Biological Science Faculty took part in the programme. President of the club Oaliullah presided over the event.
