Bangabandhu Sangskritik Jote

A discussion marking the fifth death anniversary of Awami League (AL) former General Secretary Abdul Jalil organised by Bangabandhu Sangskritik Jote (BSJ) was held at the Jatiya Press Club on Tuesday. Awami League Publicity and Publication Secretary Dr Hasan Mahmud was present as the chief guest. While speaking Hasan said the grant of bail to BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia proved again that the judiciary in the country is free. “Judicial activities are running independently and the present government does not interfere or make any influence in it,” he added. Hasan said the present government has zero tolerance policy against any sorts of corruption. He urged BNP to take part in the next general election if they have faith in democracy. The function was also addressed, among others, by Food Minister Advocate Qamrul Islam, AL Barisal district unit General Secretary Talukder Md Younus, MP, Actress Farzana Amin Natun and BSJ General Secretary Arun Sarker Rana. Adviser of the jote Chitta Ranjan Das presided over the event.

Bangladesh Dental Society

The World Dentist Day was observed in the city in befitting manner with a view to raise awareness about oral care. Bangladesh Dental Society (BDS) and Unilever Bangladesh’s oral care brand Pepsodent celebrated the day recently through various programmes in the city’s Krishibid Institute. The celebration came in continuation of a legacy set by BDS and Unilever to stress the need for oral care to build a healthy nation. The programme was kicked off with a rally. The event also featured colourful procession, film and advertisement display, views-exchange meeting and cultural function. The programme was attended, among others, by Prof. Dr. Md. Abul Kashem, President of Bangladesh Dental Society and principals of various dental colleges.
