Women with Disabilities Dev Foundation
A seminar on ‘Inclusion of Women with Disabilities in the Overall Development of the State’ organised by Women with Disabilities Development Foundation (WDDF) was held at the Daily Star Bhaban in the city. Speakers in the programme held recently urged the authorities concerned to take necessary measures for ensuring participation of women with disabilities in the country’s overall development. They underscored the need for increasing overall facilities for the women with disabilities to incorporate them in the mainstream development. They also urged the government to come forward inestablishing the rights of the people with disabilities. The speakers said 96 per cent of women with disabilities are more likely to experience physical and emotional abuse and sexual assault. The function was addressed, among others, by former Adviser of the Caretaker Government Advocate Sultana Kamal, Joint Secretary of the Road Transport and Bridges Ministry Ehsan-e-Elahi and former President of Women for Women Zakia K Hassan.
