Hatiya Zila Bastobayon Parishad
The people of Hatiya Upazila of Noakhali formed a human chain in front of the National Press Club on Sunday and demanded announcement of Hatiya as a district, construction of blocks on the bank of the Meghna River and stoppage of lifting sands from the river by dredger. The people placed their demands at a programme organized by ‘Hatiya Zila Bastobayon Parishad’, ‘Upakul Bnachao Andolon’, ‘Tilottoma Hatiya’ and ‘Hatiya Chhatra Forum Dhaka (HCFD)’. Speakers of the programme said, “Though the island has potentials to be a luxurious tourist spot and economic zone, the government seems indifferent to it. The inhabitants of Hatiya have been suffering lots for last fifty years due to river erosion.” “Hatiya, the largest upazila of Noakhali district, has all qualities to be a district, as well as a tourist and economic spot by preventing river erosion”.Convener of Hatiya Zila Bastobayon Parishod Advocate Fazle Azim Tuhin, Freedom Fighter Binoy Bhushon Das, Director of Tilottoma Hatiya Fowzia Safder Sohelee, Convener of Upakul Bnachao Andolan Shahed Sofique and HCFD President Samir Sinha, among others, present in the programme.

Md. Nadir Bin Ali, Deputy Director (IT) of Daffodil International University who has been working as a leader of Google Educator Groups (GEG) of Bangladesh and GEG Dhaka South achieved the Asia Pacific Best GEG Leader Award 2015 for his outstanding performance for the last one year and setting extra mileage in championing professional development for his community in Bangladesh renowned educators’ community “Google Educator Group” (GEG) has been honored as Asia Pacific best GEG Leader Award 2015. In recognition of this achievement, Google has invited him to attend “GEG Top Leaders Summit” to be held on 1 June 2016 in Singapore.GEGs are communities of educators who learn, share, and inspire each other to meet the needs of their students through technology solutions, both in the classroom and beyond. GEGs provide a platform for educators to collaborate with one another, allowing them to pick up new creative ideas from one another and to help each other best meet the needs of their students with Google solutions. GEG activities take place both online and offline. Online GEGs provide a space for educators to discuss together and learn about one another through Google+; offline, locally run events and workshops are a way to learn and share face to face.
Bangladesh Inter -University Officers’ Federation
A team of Bangladesh Inter -University Officers’ Federation met with the Dhaka University Vice Chancellor to discuss the discrimination of pay-scale among the university teachers on Saturday. All office-bearers of the federation were present on the occasion and they express their gratitude to the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for declaring the pay-scale . The VC assured all-out cooperation to implement the pay-scale, says a press release.
