Society for Welfare of Autistic Children
To mark the 9th World Autism Awareness Day & Month 2016 ‘Society for the Welfare of Autistic Children’ (SWAC) organised a discussion on Autism and Cultural Programme at Shilpakala Academy Auditorium on Saturday. Despite communication and socialization difficulties autistic children can display great skills and talents. The aim of this programme was to raise awareness about autism. Nasima Begum ndc, Secretary , Ministry of Women and Children’s Affairs was present as Chief Guest while special guests were- M. A Halim Chowdhury, MD & CEO, Pubali Bank Ltd, Shahid Hossain, MD , Southeast Bank Ltd and Liaquat Ali Lucky, DG, Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy. As a part of ongoing support the MD of Pubali Bank M. A Halim Chowdhury handed over a cheque for Tk 10 lakh to the chairman of SWAC Engr Anwar Hossain. Engr. Anwar Hossain, Chairman, SWAC presided over the occasion. Vice Chairman Naquib Uddin Khan, Secretary Subarna Chakma, Treasurer Syeda Shamima Akhter, Principal Sabina Hossain, Md Mofijul Islam, Project Manager & Manager (Administration & Finance) and other members, staff and parents were present at the programme. The program was sponsored by Southeast Bank Limited, Mercantile Bank Ltd and Berger Paints Bangladesh Ltd. SWAC was formed on February 3, 2000 by a group of very enthusiastic and devoted parents of autistic children and is running its programme successfully for the betterment of autistic children since then, says a press release.
Ekattorer Ghatak Dalal Nirmul Committee
European chapter of Ekattorer Ghatak Dalal Nirmul Committee was formed at the All European Nirmul Committees’ Conference held at SENSUS Auditorium in Stockholm recently. Presided over by Nirmul Committee’s Acting President Shahriar Kabir, the Conference on Recognizing Bangladesh Genocide, Trial of the Perpetrators and Deradicalizing Muslim Diaspora in Europe, was addressed by Fredrik Malm MP, Justice Syed Asif Shahkar, Ulf Gustafsson of IHEU Sweden, Mona Strindberg of UN Association Upsala, Erik Hedlund, Kazi Mukul gen secretary central Nirmul Committee, Tarun Kanti Chowdhury, General Secretary of NC Sweden Chapter, Akter M Zaman, president of NC Swden Chapter, Writer Taslima Moon, Nadeem Qadir, Press Minister, L Bangladesh High Commission in London and Golam Sarwar , Ambassador of Bangladesh in Sweden. All the speakers strongly supported ongoing trial of the war criminals in Bangladesh and appreciated Nirmul Committee’s role in deradicalizing Muslim Diaspora in Europe, says a press release.
Debate for Democracy
Debate is one of the best options for spreading knowledge, and any open idea. Debate helps to respect others opinion. There is no alternative of debate in expanding democracy. The country is now trapped in between political parties and unrest. In this context, Hassan Ahamed Chowdhury Kiron, founder chairman of National Debate Federation, and Chairman Debate for Democracy was given life- time achievement award for his outstanding contribution in debate yesterday. The programme was organised by Raypur Club where Additional Deputy Commissioner of Laksmipur Konkon Chakma and Upazilla Nirbahi Officer Sharmin Alam attended as Chief Guest and special guest respectively. In this regard, a weeklong debate competition among 24 schools and madrasas was held. In the competition, Raypur Machant Academy and Raypur Govt. Girls’ High School became Champion and Runner Up respectively. Presided over by Maruf Bin Zakaria, among others, Principal of Rustom Ali Degree College, Mamunur Rashid, Upazillar Education Officer, Md Kamal Hossain, President of Managing Committee of Raypur Govt Girls’ High School Rafiqul Haidar Babul Pathan, National Debate Federation Secretary, Mostafizur Rahman Khan, Debate for Democracy Director, Kabir Hossain Shishir, National Debater, Masudur Rahman, Zannatul Ferdous, were present. After the competition, Champion and Runner Up team were provided trophy, crests, and certificates, says a press release.
