’71 Foundation
The ’71 Foundation will honour 11 valiant female freedom fighters today for their unforgettable contribution to the great War of Liberation and working for implementation of its spirit. The organisation would honour them through a function at Shishu Academy Auditorium at 3 pm on the occasion of the 45th anniversary of independence. Those who would be honoured are Bangamata Begum Fazilatunnesa Mujib (posthumously), Ayesha Khanam, Prof Panna Qaisar, Ferdousi Priyabhashini, Dr Valerie A Taylor, Mamtaz Begum, Rokeya Kabir, Lubna Mariam, Sheela Momen, Advocate Sultana Kamal and Prof Hannana Begum. Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed will attend the function as the chief guest, while former deputy speaker Colonel (retd) Shawkat Ali, MP, will be present as the special guest. Chairman of ’71 Foundation Dr Khaled Shawkat Ali will preside over the function.
Bangladesh Insurance Forum
A discussion organised by Bangladesh Insurance Forum (BIF) was held in the auditorium of the Institution of Diploma Engineers, Bangladesh in the city’s Kakrail on Monday in observance of the 45th Independence and National Day. Awami League Presidium Member and Health and Family Welfare Minister Mohammad Nasim was present as the chief guest. While speaking Nasim said unconstitutional handover of power would never be allowed in the country. “If we have faults, then there is election. It’s natural that the change in government is done through election,” he said.
The programme was addressed, among others, by Chairman of the Development and Regulatory Authority of Insurance M Shefaq Ahmed, Chairman of Padma Life Insurance ABM Zafarullah and BIF Secretary Fazlul Haque Khan. BIF President and Managing Director of Popular Life Insurance BM Yusuf Ali presided over the event.
