Sandwip Development Forum
Sandwip Development Forum Limited, a social organisation of Sandwip-born people living in Dhaka, will celebrate its silver jubilee at its office at Sultanganj near Rayerbazar Beribandh area in the city today. Former Adviser to the Caretaker Government Dr Akbar Ali Khan will inaugurate the function in the morning. Senior Secretary of Defence Ministry Kazi Habibul Awal and Planning Commission Member Abdul Mannan will also join it. Noted personalities including Dr Akbar Ali Khan, Dr Zafarullah Chowdhury, Dr Kabir Chowdhury, Engr AK Azad, Prof Hosne Ara Azad, Bangladesh Bank Governing Body member Dr Hannana Begum and noted psychologist Dr Mohit Kamal will be conferred honour on the occasion. General Secretary of the forum and former Hospitality Affairs Secretary of DUCSU (Dhaka University Central Students’ Union) Nurul Aktar requested all Sandwip-born people to join the silver jubilee function to make it a success.
Bangladesh Jatiya Hindu Mahajote
A rally organised by Bangladesh Jatiya Hindu Mahajote was held in front of Jatiya Press Club recently. In the rally the speakers demanded exemplary punishment to the culprits who are involved in killing Hindu priest of Gaurio Moth of Debiganj upazila in Panchagarh district, Jaggeshwar Roy. The speakers also demanded to ensure security of the people belonging to religious minority. The programme was addressed, among others, by freedom fighter and artiste of Swadhin Bangla Betar Kendra Monoranjon Ghosal, Secretary General of the organisation Ananda Kumar Biswas, chief coordinator Shyamal Kumar Roy, Executive Secretary General and Spokesman Palash Kanti Dey, Prof Sushil Mahato, Joint Secretary General Samir Sarker and Mina Rani Sarker. President of the Hindu Mahajote Dr Provash Chandra Roy presided over the event.
