Nagorik Chhatra Oikya
A rally organised by Nagorik Chhatra Oikya was held in front of Jatiya Press Club on Wednesday. In the rally the speakers demanded immediate release of Nagorik Oikya Convenor Mahmudur Rahman Manna unconditionally. The programme was addressed, among others, by central member of Nagorik Oikya Shahidullah Kaiser, President of Samajtantrik Chhatra Front Jonardon Dutta Nantu, President of Oikyabaddha Chhatra Samaj Ahmed Azam Rupu, Convenor of Jubo Oikya Shahinul Alam and central leader of the organisation Swapna Aktar. Convenor of Nagorik Chhatra Oikya Nazmul Hasan presided over the programme. After the rally a procession paraded different streets of the city.

of Journalists
Leaders of Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) in a statement conveyed warm greetings to the newly elected office-bearers of the Dhaka Union of Journalists (DUJ). In the statement, Acting President of BFUJ Zafar Wazed, Secretary General Omar Faruque and Treasurer Modhusudan Mondal hoped that DUJ, the single largest organisation of the country’s journalists, would be more dynamic under the leadership of its newly elected President Shaban Mahmud and General Secretary Sohel Haider Chowdhury. BFUJ leaders also hoped that the victorious DUJ leaders would work for the welfare of the journalist community by involving all in the profession. BFUJ leaders assured all possible cooperation from their part to the newly elected committee of DUJ.
Pathfinder International
A partnership MoU has been signed between WSUP and Pathfinder International to serve better health and sanitation services for the low income community and school students in Dhaka and Chittagong area on Monday . The main objective of the MoU is to ensure health, nutrition and improved sanitation services for the low- income urban community by the mutual partnership and activities. Abdus Shaheen, Country Programme Manger, WSUP Bangladesh and Halida H Akter, Chief of Party, NHSDP and Country Programme Manger, Pathfinder International have signed the MoU. Senior staff and journalists were present in the MoU signing event organised at WSUP Bangladesh country, says a press release.
Gono Bishwabidyalay
A 3-day long international conference on life, language and culture titled “Know the Neighbours” was jointly organised by Gono Bishwabidyalay and Jahangirnagar University concluded yesterday. On the day, 5 seminars were held on Bengali Literature & Little Magazine, Economy and Politics of the Region, Diversity of Language & Bengali language , struggle & culture, partition and migration at PHA auditorium of Gonoshasthaya Kendra, Savar, Dhaka. Earlier, Prof Farzana Islam, VC , Jahangirnagar University inaugurated the conference on 22 February at the same venue. On the first day, three seminars were held on International Relations & Geography, Culture of the Region and Religion & Cultural Harmony. On the second day, another three seminars on Education & Mother Tongue, Gender Issue and Women Empowerment, Northeastern Life were held at Zahir Raihan Aditorium of JU . About 50 participants from West Bengal, Tripura, Assam, Meghaloya, Manipur, Nagaland, Arunachal, Mizoram, Bihar, Jharkhand, Orisha of India attended the conference. Eminent thinker, historian of Language Movement and political analyst Badruddin Umar delivered his closing speech in the conference.
