Muktijuddher Chetona Bastabayan Committee
 Speakers at a programme called for bringing all the war criminals to justice and reviving the spirit of Liberation War of 1971 in order to take the country ahead. They came up with the remarks at a views exchange meeting and get-together of Muktijuddher Chetona Bastabayan Committee at National Museum auditorium at Shahbag in the city on Monday. The Committee organied the programme marking its 24th founding anniversary. Pankaj Bhatacharya, President of Oikya NAP, Hasan Imam, ex-president of the Nirmul committee, Nazmul Haque Prodhan, MP, Colonel (retd) Abu Osman Chowdhury, a leader of Sectors’ Commander Forum, Golam Kuddus, president of Sammilito Sangskritic Jote, Bahadur Bepari, ex-president of Bangladesh Chhatra League, among others, spoke at the programme with Principal Abdul Ahad Chowdhury, president of the committee, in the chair. They narrated history of their movement for putting the war criminals to trial, including the formation of Gano Adalot, says a press release.
Barisal Bibhag Samity
A discussion organised on the occasion of 160th birth anniversary of Ashwini Kumar Dutta, founder of BM School and College was held at Bangladesh Shishu Kalyan Parishad auditorium in the city’s Topkhana Road on Monday with President of the samity and historian Siraj Uddin Ahmed in the chair. Advisory Council Member of Bangladesh Awami League and senior advocate Yusuf Hussain Humayun was present as the chief guest. In the discussion the speakers demanded to name Barisal Government College after Ashwini Kumar Dutta. The samity also expressed deep condolence over the death of Altaf Mahmud, President of a faction of Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists. Participants observed one minute silence to pay last respect to late journalists’ leader.  

Islamic University Journalists’ Assoc

The President and Secretary of Islamic University Journalists Association (IUJA) Mustafa Zubayer Alam and Shajahan Nobin respectively in a statement on Monday expressed deep shock at the death of a faction of Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) President Altaf Mahmud. They said the nation has lost a prominent journalist and he will remain alive in the heart of the people. They also prayed for salvation of the departed soul and conveyed profound sympathy to the bereaved family members.
