A discussion on ‘Memory of 1971 and Indira Gandhi, the Friend of Bangla” organized by Education, Labour, Forests and Environment Protection Society was held at the auditorium of Press Institute of Bangladesh (PIB) in the city.
Social Welfare Minister Mohsin Ali was present as the chief guest. While speaking Mohsin said the Bangalees as a nation will always recall the contribution of former Indian Prime Minister late Indira Gandhi with due respect as she played a significant role in achieving independence of the country giving wholehearted support to the great Liberation War in 1971.
“We would have to go ahead after being imbued with the spirit of the Liberation War giving due respect to all for their contribution in achieving an independent nation,” he said.
President of the society Riaz Uddin Rana presided over the programme while Justice Shikder Mokbul Haque inaugurated it. The discussion was addressed, among others, by Engineer Fazlul Haque Chan, MP, Professor Dr Syed Anwar Hossain and Prof Dr Abu Mohammad Delwar Hossain.
