Chattogram Metropolitan Police rounded up 11 persons allegedly involved with the snatching and dacoity gang in separate raids in the city areas on Friday last.
Bakalia thana police of CMP in a raid at early hours of Friday apprehended 7 members of snatching gang from Shah Amanat Bridge area while preparing to commit snatching. Police recovered a number of lethal weapons from their custody.
The detained snatchers identified as Abdur Rahman, Javed Hossain, Md.Alauddin, Md.Sohel, Abdul Matin, Morshed and Munna.
Acting on secret information, thana police conducted raid in the area .
A case has been lodged with Bakalia thana, sources said.
Meanwhile Akbar Shah Thana police rounded up four dacoits from Gousia lake area under Akbar Shah thana on Friday morning .
Police recovered one gun, two rounds bullets and one sharp knife from their possession.
The dacoits identified as Javed Hossain, Jashimuddin, Firoj Al Mamun and Liton. Acting secret tip off, police apprehended them while taking preparations for dacoity.
Two separate cases have been lodged against them, police said
Another report adds: Kotwali thana police of CMP detained former minister M Morshed Khan’s Assistant Personal Secretary (APS) and one of his aides with 245 bottles of phensedyl syrup from Choitonnogoli area of the city early Saturday (August 11).
The detainees are-Md Mosharraf Uddin, 43, and Mohammad Khalil Ahmad, 41.
The duo were carrying the phensedyl in a gray-colored private car, Kotwali Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Mohsin told media.Three others-Aminullah, Mansur and Parvin involved in the incident, are absconding.
A case was filed with Kotwali Police Station, accusing the five persons, under Anti-Narcotics Act.
Moreover, Mohammad Khalil Ahmad was accused in a case filed with same police station in 2017 under Narcotics Control Act, added the police.
