A day-long national conference titled ‘Opportunity to get justice: Role of locality-based (Mahalla) conciliation-mediation’ organised by the Community Legal Service (CLS) was held on Thursday at Sonargaon Hotel in the city. Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Anisul Haque was present as the chief guest. While speaking Anisul said the government is working to dispense off 90 percent cases outside of the courts in an alternative way. The government is committed to provide legal assistance to the less fortunate people, he added. CLS team leader Jerome Sayre presided over the event, it was also addressed, among others, by Joint Secretary of Law Ministry Mostafizur Rahman, Member of the National Human Rights Commission Fowzia Karim Feroze and Director of Legal Aid Service Trust Barrister Sarah Hossain.
