Order on charge framing over Abrar murder on Oct 27

The Metropolitan Sessions Judge’s Court of Dhaka yesterday fixed October 27 for giving order on charge framing in the case filed in connection with the death of Dhaka’s Residential Model College student Naimul Abrar Rahat against 10 people, including Motiur Rahman, the Editor of the Prothom Alo.
Judge KM Imrul Qayesh of Metropolitan Sessions Judge’s Court of Dhaka fixed the date on Tuesday. Earlier, complainant Omar Faruk Asif appealed to the court to frame charge against the accused of the case.
On the contrary, defence lawyers, Ehsanul Haque Samaji and Prosanta Karmaker appealed to the court to discharge the accused from the case, while the complainant’s lawyer opposed.
The accused including the Prothom Alo editor Motiur Rahman were present during the hearing.  
Earlier, on October 1, the court accepted the charge-sheet and fixed October 13 for charge hearing in the case.
On September 20, Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Jasim transferred the case to this court as it got ready for trial process.
The other nine accused are- Editor of Kishor Alo- a publication of the Prothom Alo, Anisul Hoque, Prothom Alo Senior Sub-Editor Mohitul Alam, head of event and activation Kabir Bakul, executives Shah Paran Tushar and Shuvashish Pramanik and Jasim Uddin, Mosharraf Hossain, Sujon and Kamrul Hawlader, who were in charge of providing electricity for the function.
On September 3, the court granted bail to Anisul Hoque, Mohitul Alam, Kabir Bakul, Shah Paran Tushar and Shuvashish Pramanik in the case. It came up with the order as the accused surrendered in the court and pleaded for bail.
The court gave that order a day after it directed the authorities concerned to attach the properties of those five accused. At present, all the 10 accused are on bail.
Ninth grader Naimul Abrar Rahat died after being electrocuted behind the stage at an event organised by the Kishor Alo, a publication of the Prothom Alo, at Dhaka Residential Model College ground on November 1, 2019.
On November 6, 2019, Naimul’s father Mojibur Rahman filed the case with the court in this connection.
