Open fire in Rohingya camp wounded 13

Staff Reporter: At least 13 persons have been wounded as miscreants opened fire at a Rohingya camp in Cox’s Bazar’s on Monday night following a clash.
The clash broke at Nayapara camp in Hnila union around 8:30pm over establishing supremacy of local groups.
Locals said that Zakir and Aman Ullah, two leaders of a group in the camp, demanded extortion from Noor Nabi, a trader of the camp when the others of the camp encircled the extortionists.
Later, Zakir’s rival groups led by Salman Shah and Khairul joined them.
At a point, Zakir’s men opened fire which injured 13 persons.
Of them, nine were sent to the Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital as their condition deteriorated. Rest of the injured persons have taken treatment from Nayapara Public Health Clinic.
10 of the injured persons have been identified as Shawkat (19), Hasan (28), Ziadul (12), Bashir (32), Hossain (23), Faruk (8), Zubayer (18), Abul Hossain (22), Abdul Gony and Abdul Aziz.
Getting information, police went to the camp and brought the situation under control, said Pradip Kumar Das, officer-in-charge of Teknaf Police Station.
He said that the law enforcers are now searching the extortionists.
