Online service of Ansar-VDP Unnayan Bank was launched at a ceremony at a hotel in the capital on Saturday.
Bangladesh Ansar-VDP Unnayan Bank and Infinity Technology International Limited, a Bangladeshi reputed banking software institution, jointly organized a discussion on the occasion.
Dr. Mohammad Farashuddin Ahmed, former Governor of Bangladesh Bank, attended the function as the chief guest.
Mohammad Eunusur Rahman, secretary of Bank and Financial Institutions Division of Finance Ministry, Major General Mijanur Rahman Khan, chairman of Board of Directors of Ansar-VDP Unnayan Bank and Director General of Bangladesh Ansar and VDP, Dr. Mohammad Kaykobad, a professor of Computer Science department of BUET, Mustafa Jabbar, IT expert and president of Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS), and ASM Jamaluddin, chairman of Infinity Technology International Limited, spoke on the occasion.
Addressing at the function, the speakers called for patronization of homegrown technology for ensuring our development. “There are many youths, who have proved their qualification at home and abroad. Real development may not come for us if we failed to utilize them and neglect our own people”, they said.
The programme was told that initially six branches of the bank, mainly meant for about 60 lakh Ansar members, will be brought under the online service powered by Infinity Technology International Limited.
At present, the bank, which had launched its journey in November 1996, has 239 branches across the country.
