Gas supply started from Kailashtila gas field

Gas supply to the national grid has started from well No. 7 of Kailashtila gas field under Sylhet gas field.
General Manager (Operations) of Sylhet Gas Field Engineer Abdul Jalil Pramanik said that the supply of gas started from 11 am on Saturday 14 May.
He said that from today, 19 million cubic feet of gas will be added to the national grid every day from this well.
On Saturday morning, senior secretary of the energy ministry Mahbub Hossain inaugurated the gas supply.
Earlier, the supply of experimental gas from this well started from last May 7. As it was successful, the supply officially started from today.
Gas production from Kailashtila well No. 7 stopped in 2016.
Then in February this year, the state oil and gas exploration company Bapex started work-over in the well on behalf of the Sylhet Gas Field Authority. The work-over work was completed last month.
Mohammad Ali, managing director of Bapex, said gas supply from the well was started in the national grid after various tests.
He said that now gas is being produced from this well at 2800 psi.
At present, about 2300 million cubic feet of gas is produced from 22 gas fields of the country.
