Khatunganj wholesale trader warehouseman said. Besides, Myanmar onions are stuck at the Teknaf wharf. Not being able to get out of there because of the rain. That is why there is some crisis of onion in the market. Onion prices rose by Tk 6 per kg in the wholesale market yesterday (Tuesday). A day ago, onion was sold at Tk 42 per kg in the wholesale market. On Tuesday (yesterday) it has increased from Tk 42 to Tk 48. Jabed Iqbal added that the government has stopped importing onions from India. It would be better if we were allowed to import onions and if the onions stuck at the Teknaf wharf were allowed to be released soon, the price of onions in the market would go down.
Onions were sold at Tk 50 to Tk 60 per kg in different places of the city yesterday. In the retail market, the price of onion has gone up by Rs 5-10 in one day. Domestic onions are being sold at Tk 80 per kg in the market. Which was sold a day ago at 50 rupees. The wholesale price of domestic onion in Khatunganj was 50 to 52 rupees per kg yesterday.
