Onion, egg price hiked

In different markets, the locally produced onion was sold at Tk 50 per kg while the imported variety at Tk 55 to 60. The local onion was selling at Tk 45 a kg and the imported onion at Tk 50-55 in last weeks.
The price of per dozen of egg was sold at Tk 96 on Friday, marking an increase of Tk 16 to 21.
The traders and market experts said that the egg price increased in view of increasing demand.
On the other hand, the broiler chicken price has been found stable. The white broiler chicken was selling at Tk 120 to Tk 125 per gk on Friday. The red chicken was selling at Tk 140 to 150.
Garlic was selling at Tk 100 to 120 a kg and ginger at Tk 100 to 120 only.
Vegetables price slightly decreased in the city kitchen markets last week, while the onion and egg price went up.
The vegetables price dropped slightly due to arrival of winter season’s vegetables. But it failed to give consumers relief to expecting level due to very poor range of price fall.
Potato was selling at Tk 18 to 20 per kg, tomato at Tk 90 to 100, okra at Tk 45-50, parbal at Tk 45-50, brinjal at Tk 50 to 55, raddish at Tk 48, arum at Tk 35, snake gourd at Tk 50,

bitter gourd at Tk 50, bottle gourd at Tk 30 to 40, teasel gourd at Tk 50, ash gourd at Tk 30 to 40 per piece, french beans at Tk 55 -60, carrot at Tk 75, cucumber at Tk 30 to 40, pumpkin (medium size) at Tk 30 to 40 per piece, balsam apple at Tk 50- 60 per kg, green papaya at Tk 25 per kg, cauliflower at Tk 40 per piece, coriander leaves at Tk 400 per kg, capsicum (red) at Tk 470 per kg and capsicum (green) at Tk 300 per kg. Lemon was selling at Tk seven to Tk eight per piece.
Green chilli price also decreased. It was selling at Tk 140 per kg while it was sold at Tk 200 in previous week.
The rice price continued costly. Miniket rice were selling at Tk 55 to Tk 60 per kg, and Najirshail at Tk 60 to 65. Jeerashail, Paijam and Lata at Tk 59 to 60 per kg on Friday. Medium quality of Brridhan-28 and Lota were sold at Tk 52-55 per kg. Different kind of coarse rice like Swarna was selling at Tk 50 and similarly the hybrid quality at Tk 48 to Tk 50 per kg.
The wholesale price of rice was found unchanged at Badamtoli, Moulvibazar, Mohammadpur Krishi Market, Karwan Bazar, Babubazar, Malibagh, Shantinagar and Fakirapool.
The price of fishes was found nearly unchanged comparing with the last week. Of fishes, Koi (river) at Tk 600, Koi (cultivated) at Tk 200 to Tk 250, Shing and Magur at Tk 450 to Tk 800 and Shoul at Tk 350 -450 a kg, Pabda at Tk 500 to Tk 550, sheat (boal) at Tk 450 to 500, Golsha at Tk 400-500, Tengra at Tk 400-450 per kg, Aire fish at Tk 450 to 650 and Baila at Tk 400 to 550 per kg in the city markets.
Of other fishes, Butter fish was sold at Tk 300 to 350, lobster at Tk 450 to 600, shrimp (River) at Tk 350 to 400, puti at Tk 250 to 450 per kg, Rupchanda at Tk 900 to 1100 per kg, coral fish at Tk 450 to 600 per kg, river Pangas at Tk 350 per kg, cultivated Pangas at Tk 140 per kg, Rajputi at Tk 300 per kg and Telapia at Tk 150 to Tk 200 per kg. lata fish at Tk 250 to 350 and Eel at Tk 450 to 550 per kg, batashi at Tk 400 to 500.
