A court here on Friday sentenced one person to death for killing his wife at Hartokirtek village under Sripur upazila of the district in 2011.
Additional District and Session Judge A K M Enamul Hauque pronounced the judgment. The court also fined him Taka 10,000. The convict is M Samim, 28, son of Abdul Majid of the village.
Samim used to torture her wife Champa Akhter, 20, after their marriage. On January 5, 2011 Samim tortured and strangulated to death his wife Champa over a family matter.
After the incident, victim’s father Dulal Miah filed a murder case with Sripur police station against Samim. Police after investigation submitted charge-sheet before the court against Samim on March 24, 2011.
